BOOM won the contract to undertake the lifting, mechanical and electrical installation of 48 wind turbines for a new wind farm in Cattle Hill, Tasmania. The wind farm is located on the eastern shore of Lake Echo on the southern side of the Central Plateau of Tasmania. The wind farm’s 48 turbines produce up to 150 MW of clean renewable electricity, with over 528 loads of oversized turbine components to be transported from Bell Bay to the Cattle Hill project site.
BOOM has been engaged to erect the turbines for Goldwind Capital Australia, under an estimated 12-month contract. Eight Cranes from 25T to 750T were delivered to Tasmania, in short equating to circa 4,000 freight tonnes. Pictured below is one of BOOMs cranes being driven off the ship before it headed to the Cattle Hill project.
The mobilisation of equipment provides BOOM with the opportunity to obtain further work in the wind farm sector and explore what Tasmania has to offer.
